Monthly SPARC committee MeetingSummary of decisions, discussions, and action items:
1. Welcome to Charles and Chris as attendees at the steering committee - we thank them for their participation.
2. The March meeting topic will be storage, and Cecil will be the speaker. Sun will sponsor. Wayne will provide a bio for Cecil and will provide a write up for Jay (mailing) and Steve (posting).
3. Steve had the meeting announcement printed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch Metro Business section. The announcement appears in the This Week section during the week of the meeting. This is due to the Times-Dispatch Monday prior to publication, about 10 days prior to the meeting for publication during the week of the general meetings.
4. It was reported that Veritas has accepted the invitation to speak at and sponsor the April meeting. The topic will be the Veritas product offerings. Thanks to Strategic Technologies for coordinating.
5. We discussed the possibility of having a longer running meeting in May, running from 2:00 - 5:00. It will consist of two separate topics. Attendees will be invited to both, but are welcome to only one if there are schedule conflicts. High availability and clustering solutions (Sun) will be one topic and the second topic is to be determined. We will discuss this at the March general meeting.
6. Other topics of interest included Oracle as a follow up to clustering (June), Sun Internals, virtual (software) domains, Solaris 9, and iPlanet products.
7. A reminder for the steering committee should be sent prior to the next meeting.
8. Steve will post these minutes on the web site.
Regards,
Steve
