February's Topic: Performance Management & Tuning
While the health care industry has well-established protocols for the triage,
diagnosis, and treatment of patient complaints, resolution of system performance
complaints often seems to take a path that lacks any recognizable process
or discipline. This presentation draws from the well-known lessons and concepts
of health care delivery to present perspectives for systematically addressing
system performance complaints with predictable and accurate results.
Bob Sneed is a member of the Systems Engineering team in Sun's Performance
and Availability Engineering (PAE) group. He stays immersed in system performance
and availability topics, especially those involving Oracle, the Solaris I/O
stack, and storage technologies. Prior to joining Sun in 1997, he worked
variously as a Sun ISV, a Sun reseller, and a Sun customer. His early career
experiences in realtime industrial controls and software portability engineering
helped shape his perspectives on performance and reliability issues.
Sun will be sponsoring the February meeting with refreshments and

GE Financial Assurance is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex, you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign. Follow the road around past the Richmond Sheraton to the 6630 building towards the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well. Please enter at the front main entrance.
