February's Topic: Maximum System Availability with Sun's Pre-emptive Services

Sun now offers free Pre-emptive Services as a part of your Sun Support Services Agreement.  Our presentation will cover two primary components of this service. 

1. Net Connect, which is a self-managed, web-based tool enabling remote management of Sun server and storage systems at no cost, including asset configuration, patch and trend reporting, and basic monitoring to monitor Sun system performance. The latest release is designed to provide enhanced reporting and options for customers and partners to access and utilize system reports.

2. Sun's Configuration and Service Tracker (CST) is a Web-enabled application designed to help achieve higher levels of system availability. The software continuously tracks critical hardware and software events that occur on
monitored systems over time, so that System Administrators can perform root cause analysis, track system availability, detect system configuration changes, and more. Maintaining historical data can help understand the system behavior, which can lead to greater system availability and serviceability.

Bill Cullifer with Sun's Enterprise Services Group has been working to develop this program over the past two years.  Bill will discuss  how to implement these products and show us screen shots of the reports that they provide.

After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex...you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign.  Follow the road around past the Sheraton to the 6630 building toward the back of the campus.  Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well.  Please enter at the front main entrance.
