January's Topic:  Solaris Kernel & File System Topics for Supporting an Oracle database

Our speaker, Scott Livezey, will present an overview of the fundamental settings and strategies promoted at the Solaris kernel & file system layers to foster improved Oracle I/O performance for various workload contexts.  (Note: ZFS not to be included)

Scott Livezey is a solution architect in Sun's Business Applications group who also supports the PeopleSoft and SAP Competency Centers.  With a UNIX/Oracle background prior to joining Sun in 1997, Scott is mainly involved with addressing the technical infrastructure layers and data center operations for large/active Oracle databases for Sun's SAP (i.e. ERP) customer base across all industries.  He holds an undergraduate degree from Penn State University and a Masters from the University of Virginia.

After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex...you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign.  Follow the road around past the Sheraton to Building 4 toward the back of the campus.  Turn left for Visitor Parking.  Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well.  Please enter at the front main entrance.
