Monthly SPARC committee MeetingSummary of decisions, discussions, and action items:
1. The April meeting will be sponsored by Veritas Software. The speaker will be Walt Madden, Systems Engineer at Veritas. Walt will discuss the latest versions of Veritas software and what the new versions bring to the table. Veritas will also provide refreshments and door prizes.
2. The bio for Walt Madden and topic for the newsletter has already been sent to Steve. He will create the newsletter and send to the committee for approval.
3. The May meeting topic will be high availability clustering, with Cecil to speak. Sun will sponsor. Wayne will provide a bio for Cecil and will provide a write up for Jay (mailing) and Steve (posting).
4. Steve had the meeting announcement printed in the Richmond Times-Dispatch Metro Business section for the second month. Two people attended he March meeting after reading the announcement. The monthly reminder announcements will continue.
5. We had previously discussed the possibility of having a longer running meeting in May, running from 2:00 - 5:00. To get feedback from the general population, we will take a poll at the next meeting. We will handout the polls at the onset of the meeting, and will hand out raffle tickets to attendees as they return the poll.
6. Wayne will contact Oracle to see if they will speak as a follow up to clustering (June). As previously discussed, other topics of interest are Sun Internals, virtual (software) domains, Solaris 9, and iPlanet products.
7. A reminder was sent prior to the steering committee meeting. Steve will continue to send the reminders for the steering committee meetings.
8. Steve will post these minutes on the web site.
