SPARC Committee Meeting Minutes - May 2002

Attendees:

Charles Pfeiffer (Tek Systems), Chris Schultz (Federal Reserve), Steve Alexander (Circuit City), Jay Campbell (GE Financial) via conference call, Wayne Diehl (Sun)

Purpose:

Monthly SPARC committee Meeting

Summary of decisions, discussions, and action items:

  1. The June meeting will be held at the Oracle office in Innsbrook on June 6th. The presenter will be George Gopie from Oracle. George will discuss Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), and will include a Transparent Application Failover (TAF) Demo
  2. The June meeting will be sponsored by Computer Research Team (CRT), including refreshments and door prizes.
  3. Wayne agreed to solicit the bio information for George and to write the newsletter.
  4. It was determined that we should have one meeting during the summer, in addition to the June 6th meeting, and should have it on Thursday, July 25th. Jay will attempt to secure the meeting room for that meeting and will release it for the early July and early August dates.
  5. Possible topics for the July meeting will be Solaris 9.
  6. The schedule for the next few meetings are: 6/6 - General Membership; 6/13 - Steering Committee; 7/25 General Membership; 8/1 - Steering Committee; 9/5 - General Membership.
  7. Steve will post these minutes on the web site.
