SPARC Meeting - (S)un (P)rofessionals' (A)ssociation of (R)ichmond (C)omputer users

Clustering has become an important tool for small and large systems to maintain the levels of availability required in today's mission critical environments.

Join us for the next SPARC User's Group as Cecil Jacobs of Sun Microsystems will offer a technical exploration of the feature set of the Sun Cluster 3.0 product. We will define the terms Sun uses when describing SunPlex environments, and we will discuss the underlying enhancements to the Solaris OE that enable SC 3.0 to offer some industry-leading high availability features.

Topics we intend to cover in this meeting: major differences between SC 3.0 and it's predecessor SC 2.2; the Global Network Service, the Global File Service, and global devices; logical volume managers and MPxIO; currently supported server, network, storage, and data configurations; and current application support. We will also spend some time talking about design considerations for high availability solutions with Sun Cluster 3.0, and we'll end up with some coverage of SunPlex management tools and the Agent Builder.

Sun will sponsor the April meeting with great refreshments and fun door prizes!

GE Financial Assurance is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex...you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign.
Follow the road around past the Richmond Sheraton to the 6630 building. Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located behind the PFS Building as well. After getting a guest badge from the guard, take the elevator tot he 6^th floor (GEFA U) and follow the signs to the Boundaryless Room.
