APRIL TOPIC: Disaster Recovery. Data Protection. Business Continuance.

Disaster Recovery. Data Protection. Business Continuance. These have all risen in importance and visibility in the last 18 months. In most cases, there is no single solution for all these issues. Different organizations have different needs. Often there are different recovery requirements for different types of data within a single organization. Different solutions, different methodologies and different products - either singly or in combination - can be used to meet the different requirements. Jim O'Neal from the VERITAS Software Corporation will talk about disasters, recoveries, requirements as the impact the data center and the business.

Jim O'Neal graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1982. He spent the next 10 years supporting various Air Force and Department of Defense computing platforms in roles including assembly language programmer, system installer, trainer, performance analyst, IT manager and (regrettably) COBOL programmer. Since leaving the Air Force, Jim spent seven years with StorageTek and the last three years with VERITAS. Although he supports all VERITAS products, his specialties are data protection and high availability.

GE Financial Assurance, in the PFS Building (6630 West Broad St) on the sixth floor in the Education Solutions Room. This is a new room for the meeting - exit the elevators towards I-64 and turn right rather than the usual left. We'll try to have signs. 

GE Financial Assurance is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex, you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign. Follow the road around past the Richmond Sheraton to the 6630 building towards the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well. Please enter at the front main entrance.
