May's Topic: What 's New with Sun's Next Generation SPARC/Solaris and CoolThread server lines

Our speaker, Kerry Mull, will review Sun's recent unveiling of the Advanced Product Line ( APL ) - the new family of servers based on the global alliance with Fujitsu to include the M4000 - M9000 mid-range to high-end series servers and CoolThreads Enterprise T1000 & T2000. Kerry will also review some of the public information about Niagara 2 and the recent speed bumps in the UltraSPARC IV+ server line. These recent announcements extend and reassert Sun's commitment to the SPARC architecture and delivers Sun Unix systems that are now faster, deliver higher system utilization, and are more reliable than ever.

Kerry Mull has presented to Richmond SPARC in the past and always provides a lively discussion as well as an in-depth view of SPARC Servers. Kerry is a Senior Product Specialist for Sun Microsystems' Systems Practice in the Washington DC area, where he is responsible for solutions consulting and customer education about SPARC Servers. Kerry has worked for Sun Microsystems since 1996, joining Sun as part of the Cray Research (Business Systems Division) acquisition. Kerry has over 35 years experience in the computer and telecommunications industries.

Sun Microsystems will continue to sponsor a "Loyalty Program" for regular attendees of SPARC. Loyal attendees, coming to four or more meetings, will receive a Premium Award at year end. Be sure to get off to a good start by coming to our first meeting of 2007!

LOCATION: Genworth Financial in Building 4 (old 6630 West Broad St.) on the sixth floor (Genworth U).  Genworth Financial is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex...you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign.  Follow the road around past the Sheraton to Building 4 toward the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking.  Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well.  Please enter at the front main entrance.
