NOVEMBER TOPIC: Oracle 10g - (Bring Your DBA Along!)

The session will cover Oracle 10g (see link), the upcoming major release of Oracle's database.  As with all major releases, there is a larger theme, and with 10g the message is Enterprise Grid Computing (hence the 'g' in 10g).  The focus of Grid Computing is to create large pools of industry standard, modular storage and servers.  In addition to the Grid Computing capabilities in Oracle 10g, there are many other significant enhancements and new features also being introduced including:

Our speaker, Matt Portnoy, has over 20 years of technology experience.  Prior to joining Oracle 7 years ago, Matt worked in the New York metropolitan area doing pre- and post-sales support for a number of hardware vendors including NCR, Sperry/Unisys, Stratus Computer, and Auspex Systems.

Matt has had extensive experience installing, configuring and supporting various operating systems, programming languages, management tools, databases, networking solutions, and third party applications.

GE Financial Assurance, in the PFS Building (6630 West Broad St) on the sixth floor. GE Financial Assurance is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex, you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign. Follow the road around past the Richmond Sheraton to the 6630 building towards the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well. Please enter at the front main entrance.
