November's Topic:  Latest in Solaris Tips and Tricks

We plan to cover three useful Solaris related  topics for our final 2007 meeting.

1. Changes to access for patches and how to take advantage of them.
2. Incorporation of Trusted Extensions for Solaris 10 as another free-to-use technology.  Improved security is always of interest, and you may want to incorporate Trusted Extensions into your environment.
3. Utilization of ZFS (Zeta File System).  ZFS is one of the compelling features of Solaris 10, and it is now available.   We'll demonstrate setting up a pool and how it differs from traditional volume management.

Our speaker is Cecil Jacobs, a Senior Engagement Architect in the Richmond office.   Cecil provides a very technical bent to his presentations.  We are pleased to have Cecil return to the podium for this meeting, as his presentations are always very useful and enlightening.  He'll be sure to stick around afterwards to answer your questions.

This will be the last Richmond SPARC meeting of 2006.   We will be awarding the Loyalty Program gifts to our winners (those who attended four or more meetings this year).

Genworth Financial is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park.  After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex...you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign. Follow the road around past the Sheraton to Building 4 toward the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking.  Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well.  Please enter at the front main entrance.
