Monthly SPARC committee Meeting

1. Welcome to Alan as a new attendee at the steering committee - we thank him for his participation.
2. The September meeting covering LDAP was well atttended, with approximately 30 attendees. The RSVP list was very close to the attending crowd, and the guards were allowing those on the list to go to the room unescorted. This was a big help for Jay, our host. The snacks worked out well again, and the vendor had a check for the total.
3. Thanks to vendor Sungard for sponsoring the October meeting; they provided an excellent selection of door prizes.
4. The topic for the November 7th meeting will be Linux on Sun. Sun will provide the speaker and will sponsor the meeting.
5. Joe will send the invitation for the November SPARC meeting to RJOG (Richmond Java Users Group that is also sponsored by Sun.
6. Alan indicated that he would attempt to contact the other Java users groups in Richmond for invitation to the November gerneral meeting. Steve will invite them after getting the contact information from Alan.
7. The Holiday party is planned for December 5th, from 3:00 until 6/7:00 at the Sun office in Innsbrook. Sun will review their marketing funds to cover the cost, and will speak to vendors and partners for other costs or prizes.
8. Joe asked that Steve send him the .forward file (alias) for review.
9. Steve will post these minutes on the web site.
