Monthly SPARC committee Meeting

1. The August meeting covering Disaster Recovery Solutions had approx. 12 attendees. Again, many people RSVPd but did not attend. Snacks went well with GE’s internal caterers handling snacks and drinks. Cost is $2.50 per person, but there is tax.
2. October topic of choice is LDAP. Wayne will confirm this with Charles Pfeiffer as he brought up the subject. Wayne will attempt to find a Sun resource for this.
3. Sungard has expressed interest in sponsoring the meeting. Steve reported that there was turnover in the local rep., so Wayne will follow up with his contacts and will discuss sponsorship of the October meeting.
4. If LDAP does not work out, Wayne will find a Sun resource to discuss LINUX.
5. It was decided that the November topic should be new product announcements including the LX50, low end servers, and storage. We need to find a sponsor for the November meeting.
6. The December meeting will be the holiday party at the Sun office. Current thought is that Sun will sponsor this event again.
7. The .forward file was reviewed and several additions and deletions were made. The Norfolk News Ship Building group was removed as they now have their own users’ group.
8. Steve will post these minutes on the web site.
