September's Topic: Protecting Your Data from Disaster

Our presenter is Patrick Phelan, Regional Manager with StorNet, Inc.

Pat's professional career began with IBM as a Systems Engineer in 1984. He worked for Oracle Corporation from 1990 to 1994 and since then has been with StorNet, Inc. For the last eight years Pat has focused on the integration of highly available storage architectures using open systems technology.

Pat will talk about virtual volume management technology; specifically, the concept of creating Quality of Service pools of storage in a SAN environment. This will include how to create, manage, and monitor the performance of pools both in-band and out-of-band to the data stream. Pat will also cover both multiple point-in-time copies of volumes and replicated volumes for disaster recovery. The presentation will compare a wide array of options including server based software, disk sub-system based software and appliance layer products.
