OCTOBER TOPIC: Information Lifecycle Management

Information Lifecycle Management is StorageTek's view of an adaptive storage environment that dynamically balances information's changing value with the cost of managing it over time. Data is the lifeblood of most companies. In this session we will explore ILM strategies which ease administrative burden and provide long term business benefits:

  1. Match changing business/regulatory requirements to service levels, deployment times, and storage costs (Efficiently manage change)
  2. Reduce complexity and increase capacity utilization through improved visibility, interoperability and control (Calm the chaos created by rapid
    growth and strained resources)
  3. Reduce storage management costs by migrating information to appropriate storage devices based on information value (Unleash trapped profits through storage optimization)

John Hunter is a Senior Systems Engineer with StorageTek, and he conducts sales and technical training seminars in support of OEM partners, including Sun. Prior to joining StorageTek he held similar positions with Cisco and Compaq. When not being a propeller head, he enjoys family, mountain biking, and playing guitar.

GE Financial Assurance, in the PFS Building (6630 West Broad St) on the sixth floor. GE Financial Assurance is located on West Broad Street in the Brookfield Office Park. After turning at the light on Broad Street and entering the Brookfield Complex, you should stay in the left lane and turn left at the stop sign. Follow the road around past the Richmond Sheraton to the 6630 building towards the back of the campus. Turn left for Visitor Parking. Additional parking is located on the far side of the building as well. Please enter at the front main entrance.
